Renting a Car from Las Catalinas:

Las Catalinas has a Toyota Mirai - Hydrogen car for rent by the hour. $30/hr plus taxes OR  $90 plus taxes for 5 hrs and $30/hr after. We have never used this service, but could be a great way to get out without renting a car from the airport all week. Day trip to a beach bar or Flamingo for lunch etc.

Medical:

The security staff at Las Catalinas can radio for a medical emergency. Some have medical training and supplies.

Pharmacy in Surfside/Protero:

Upstairs above the Surfside Market. Very helpful staff - diagnosis and medicine.

Groceries:

Onsite - Copper and Stone: really nice onsite market just a few min walk from unit. Great overall selection, coffee shop, sandwiches, smoothies, fruit and veg etc.

Nearby - There are multiple markets just down the hill in Potrero/ Flamingo that are much cheaper.

Surfside Market in Surfside/Potrero

Super Massai Grocery - Local expat favorite - Flamingo

Water:

There is a Brita FIlter jug in the fridge for tap water. LC water is mineral heavy but usually safe.  You can also purchase a jug and there is a filtered water tap on the porch of Copper and Stone. Can also buy 2-3 gallon jugs at most stores.

Dining:

Be sure to plan ahead. Especially in the high season (Dec-March). Make reservations and check if the restaurants are open on the day you wish to go. The restaurants in the area can get busy especially for dinner.  Sentido Norte sunset/dinner in particular should be booked ahead.

Tipping:

All restaurant/bar bills in CR have 10% service added on. If adding additional tip. Just know, if you leave cash, it would typically go straight to the waiter vs an additional CC tip would get split amongst all service personnel. Sometimes the staff split the cash too. Usually people leave a couple more bucks on top of a service fee at a restaurant if service was good. Valets and housekeepers usually receive tips throughout stay, or when departing, if they provided assistance during stay.

Trash:

Take tightly sealed trash bags to 1/2 door closet on street - out the gate, to the left, 3 houses down on left

Unless you want friends, please do not leave trash or food out on the patios or on the counter/sink.

Housekeeping/Pool:

Housekeeping will perform a pre check-in deep clean and a check out cleaning service.

Complimentary Mid-week refresh cleaning for weekly rentals.

Pool is cleaned twice a week. Staff will need access for 10 min to service pool.

Basic House Rules:

2) No house tabs or open accounts. Pay as you go, please do not open a house account with concierge, restaurants, or stores.
